Today is the last leadership team meeting for the term (April-Sept 2021). Despite many challenges, we made it through the last 6 months with results that we can be proud of. Thank you to all of you who placed your trust and support in my direction as a new president.
I still remember when I first became the president of Sierra chapter, I spoke about a vision which we are aiming towards building a happy contributing culture. I even wrote an article about the vision 2023.
What’s really important in the speech I gave during the April Closed Door Meeting, is that we got to be hopeful, we got to have a plan and we got to stay focused in executing the plans so that we can achieve success.
I have to admit that it’s easier to say than getting it done. Which is true, in my learning experience along the journey, I noticed that there are many things happening to us or around us, which are beyond our control. They could distract us, and disrupt our plan. Hence, we got to always remind ourselves to stay focused on what we are trying to achieve ultimately.
Once again, thank you to the outgoing leaders:
✓ Yee Peng as Vice President (Negative Ion Health Clothing)
✓ Faye Lim as Secretary/Treasurer (Civil Litigation)
✓ Wuan Xin as Network Education Coordinator (Children Entrepreneur Program)
✓ Timothy Liew as Chapter Growth Coordinator (Retail Interior Designer)
✓ Vernon Foo as Event Coordinator (Bio-degradable Packaging)
Sierra chapter results
With our combined efforts, we have successfully grow our community from 43 (Apr) to 50 (Aug) business leaders. We are much closer to our vision of happy contributing culture as we now have grown from 52.3% (Apr) to 66% (Aug) of green contributing members.
Amongst 116 BNI chapters in Malaysia, Sierra chapter is ranking at 7th position as of August 2021, we were at 39th as of April 2021.
Even during pandemic, we are continuously doing business in our community, passing close to 300 business referrals on a monthly basis. We will continue to give confidence to businesses to be part of this happy contributing community because no business deserves to go out of business because of pandemic.
Onward To A New Term
While we are working together to grow each other businesses in Sierra, we are also a great platform to build leaders. I’m grateful that I have the opportunity to serve as a chapter president, and I believe I have the responsibilities to build more capable leaders so that the community can continue to thrive regardless of who takes the chair and can carry on the vision 2023.
As business sectors are opening up, we are going to be putting more attention on generating quality business referrals in the coming term. And I’m also grateful to have the upcoming leaders who take up the role to serve for the better.
I would like to thank the following people for taking up the opportunity to serve as leader:
✓ Tara as Vice President (Metaphysics Consultant)
✓ Wuan Xin as Secretary/Treasurer (Children Entrepreneur Program)
✓ Damon as Network Education Coordinator (Architect)
✓ Deana as Chapter Growth Coordinator (Family Law)
✓ Lyn Yen as Event Coordinator (Skincare Products)
Toward Happy Contributing Culture
Let’s all continue to stay focused in our plan, believe in the referral system, and work towards becoming the happiest chapter that generates the most measurable business.
As always, I wish everybody to stay safe, stay vigilant, and conduct business safely and responsibly while you’re traveling.
