Hello there, my name is Yvonne! I am the Founder, Heart Hunter and Certified Life Coach of Love Wins, an elite dating and matchmaking agency serving clients in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and USA.
How did you get involved in the industry and in Malaysia?
My background is very diverse. I started my career as an educator in US upon graduation and returned to Malaysia thereafter. I had worked in the tertiary education in KL for 10 years. Upon the completion of my master’s degree, I ventured into management in Finance and HR for a few years before working in Singapore as a HR Consultant.
I would say I am a people person. When I led my HR team, I always emphasized that there’s a “human” that comes before resources and we must prioritize the people before the policy and procedure in HR.
Due to the good rapport I have built with people I have come in contact with from work, I get to know them at personal level and understand that many highly successful people struggle to find life partners. So, I started playing Cupid by matchmaking them with other single professionals who share the same interests, values and relationship goals. And like they said, the rest is history!
What made you decide to go into this business?
Right before Covid, I moved back to Kuala Lumpur. During the lockdown, I was still working remotely for Singapore until the end of the pandemic. Upon the opening of borders, I was contemplating whether to move back to Singapore or stay back, I chose the latter and started Love Wins Sdn Bhd, transforming head-hunting skills into heart hunting!
What differentiates you from your competition?
Matchmaking is one of the oldest professions that has thousand years of history. Love Wins’ approach to matchmaking is modern and holistic.
First of all, we are a strong advocate that a healthy relationship should always start with self-love. There’s a quote that resonates strongly with me:
“When you love yourself first, the world also receives the gifts of your love.”
Secondly, we integrate life coaching into matchmaking, serving our clients with their best interests by finding their sense of self-worth and life aspirations while embarking on the journey of matchmaking.
Thirdly, our dating events are mostly interest-based rather than the run-of-the-mill kind of blind-dating/speed dating. We believe that couples who share common interests and values are able to build stronger connection and relationships together.
What value does your business provide?
At Love Wins, we understand that finding a life partner is a lonely journey, we value our clients as unique individuals not just as head counts. While our clients focus on their work/career, they can entrust us to find like-minded matches who genuinely look for partners to share life journey with.
What are your insights for the industry or marketplace?
People always deem dating and matchmaking as the “fun” business, but it can’t be farther from the truth. With the rising of dating apps, people see matchmaking as “redundant” or “out-dated”.
Personally, I still see the potential and future of matchmaking services because it’s a personal service that can’t be replaced by technology, nor AI.
There is so much more to a person than the face value of an online profile. Since there is not screening and vetting of the candidates on the dating apps, you really don’t know the authenticity of the matches and the potential risks involved.
I always say that matchmaking is a journey and you need to find the matchmaker you can trust to embark on this journey with.
