Featured Speaker/Presenter: KH Tan

My name is Tan Kooi Hong, u may call me KH. I am graduated at Malaysia Institute of Art as Graphic Designer. Since then, worked in Advertising industry for more than 2 decade. Helping corporate clients creating their marketing design collateral, brand design, roadshow, display & events.

I joined ETAG, authorize agency of Nirvana Asia in 2021 (MCO time). Nirvana Asia Group is the largest funeral services provider in Malaysia. Established in 1990, Nirvana Asia Group understands this sentiment deeply by embracing our tradition and culture with pride by offering a comprehensive suite of bereavement care services to honour and uplift life.

How did you get involved in the industry and in Malaysia?

During MCO, in the online Networking platform BNI. I met my leader Ernest Tham, during our conversation, he inspired me how the Bereavement industry can help people to advance planning, eliminate financial & emotionally stress during the unexpected happens to the family loves one.

What made you decide to go into this business?

I start to have more interest to understand how this industry can change my life. After knowing the business structure & marketing plan, and the mission to help people when they need us the most during love one pass-away. I feel is a Nobel job. Beside I can help people, I also help myself to build a business to meet my goal to have a financial freedom.

What differentiates you from your competition?

I start to have more interest to understand how this industry can change my life. After knowing the business structure & marketing plan, and the mission to help people when they need us the most during love one pass-away.

I feel is a Nobel job. Beside I can help people, I also help myself to build a business to meet my goal to have a financial freedom.

What are your insights for the industry or marketplace?

Bereavement service industry still consider new in the market.

We still have a lot of effort needed to do to provide more information & share more awareness to the public. Especially the concept of early pre-planning (advance buy).

So our role is to meet more young generation to ask them to be part of our services & information sharing to older generation.

What are the challenges and where are the opportunities for Malaysian businesses in relation to your industry?

Most of the time our challenges is people feel the bereavement planning is not important, and they still think they have plenty of time, only start to think about it when old & sick. Some still have the “Pantang” traditional thinking, try to avoid the taboo topic. That is why about 90% of the Chinese population is Malaysia still not fully do their planning. That’s a huge market for us to tap into.

What kind of clients or contacts would you like to be connected to or in touch with?

I would like to get in touch with business owners that have 5 Chinese employees and above. I would like to sharing with them ways to SAVE huge amount of MONEY in funeral planning for future use.
