My name is Leong Moh Yiing, a medical doctor holding the Letter of Credentialing and Privileging (LCP) and co-founder of Adora Clinic.
I left the government to pursue Aesthetic Medicine, with the aim to improve and enhance the overall appearance and general wellbeing of my clients. Over the years, I have accumulated vast experience in treating pigmentations, uneven skin tone, saggy skins, scars, slimming and body contouring.
I also provide several wellness-related services, including Immune Booster and Cell Therapy for anti-aging and general wellbeing purposes.
How did you get involve in the industry and in Malaysia
Self-perceived attractiveness is positively correlated to confidence and self-esteem. Therefore, I was keen to explore ways to help my clients to maintain, and even improve their overall appearance by enhancing their skin conditions and overall health.
When I was still a medical officer serving at government hospitals, my sister living in Hong Kong has been encouraging me to practice Aesthetic Medicine. I started to learn Aesthetic Medicine in 2013 and had the opportunity to venture into Aesthetic Medicine in 2014 locally. I decided to embark on a new career path to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in Aesthetic Medicine, a field relatively new to Malaysians at that time but already popular overseas.
Since then, I have been actively participating in local and foreign seminars, workshops, training sessions, and talks presented by experts from around the globe.
I later figured out that Aesthetic Medicine can achieve greater effects when coupling with the care of the general wellbeing of clients. Here’s where my wellness services kick in. This is especially essential when we were battling Covid-19 and even now when Covid-19 has become relatively “mild”.
I have also been invited to give talks and share my experience with doctors from both local and abroad.
What made you decide to go do this business
I see huge potential in the industry as when people’s living standard is lifted, more and more people will become health conscious and demanding about their look. There’s also a lot more to educate the public, making them aware that Aesthetic Medicine is not gender oriented. Neither is it targeting clients who only care about their look. It’s about general wellbeing. Your health, your stamina, your immune system……
Another crucial point, which I would like to highlight, is that many clients are unaware that several aesthetic procedures and treatments can only be performed by medically trained doctors. However, we often see unscrupulous beauticians performing such treatments for their clients. This has put their innocent individuals’ health, and even lives at risk, as beauticians are not trained to deal with life-threatening complications.
By involving myself in the business, I can reach out to more people and spread the words about the importance of seeking treatments from qualified personnel.
HOW DIFFERENT ADORA CLINIC IS FROM OTHERS
I believe in holistic approaches when it comes to beauty. Besides appearances, I also look at factors, which all together contribute to the wellbeing of my clients.
For example, unprotected exposure to UV light and hormone imbalances can both lead to pigmentation. There are effective treatments to lighten or even get rid of the unsightly pigmentations. However, prevention of recurrence must also be looked at.
A holistic approach means thorough investigations on the root cause(s) of the pigmentations and design a treatment plan to achieve optimal treatment results. This may include the prescription of antioxidants, multi-vitamin drip, oral sunblock, or even Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), on top of the common applications of sun block.
In other words, the same machine can treat pigmentations caused by various factors, but to tackle the root causes, further investigations need to be done. Supported by experienced wellness doctor, Adora Clinic is here to take one step further to create personalized treatment plans to suit every need.
What value you and your business provide
At Adora Clinic, we listen and care, as effective treatment plans can only be devised with all parties being patient and sincere. We want our clients to be comfortable and relaxed when seeking treatments and expressing their concerns.
What’s more? We provide not only holistic treatments, but also educate and empower our clients to take charge of their wellbeing.
INSIGHTS FOR THE INDUSTRY AND MARKETPLACE
The demand for aesthetic and healthcare services will increase when public awareness goes up. We are at a point where health issues are given the most attention and priority, particularly after Covid-19 raged across the globe and brought about uncertainties to all stakeholders.
Besides anti-ageing and pure aesthetic services, boosting immune system and strengthening the defence mechanism are the way to go.
CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
Beauticians calling themselves aestheticians and “doctor” providing treatments beyond their capabilities remain the main challenges, as they may cause severe side effects, which could claim lives of their clients.
More education and awareness campaigns are needed to teach the public to be more discerning so that they don’t fall prey to irresponsible beauty advertisements.
There are ample opportunities for the industry to grow when more people care about their appearances, while being concern about their health.
Industry players can forge collaborative ties to minimize stiff competition and leverage on each other’s strength to deliver the best services to clients. There are ways to maximise gains by reducing overlapped expenditure for a common cause.
On a broader view, with cross border travelling resuming, there are more opportunities to reach out to a bigger pool of potential clients.
CLIENTS OR CONTACTS I WOULD LIKE TO BE CONNECTED WITH
We look forward to meeting clients who want to achieve outer beauty, inner health, or both. Individuals hoping to boost immune system to better protect themselves from illnesses, or post-Covid patients looking to minimize the impact of the diseases are also welcomed.
We are keen to meet freelance beauticians as we can complement each other in our endeavour to deliver beauty to clients. We are also open to suggestions from potential collaborative partners in the fields of hospitality (for healthcare tourism) and marketing (for business expansion).
