My name is David Jong, I’m the retail manager of JDX Tea. I am also a Level 2 certified Tea Master and Art.
JDX Tea was founded in 1997 by my parents, Jong Yew Hock & Irene Choo, trading varieties of tea supplies produced and packed in a corner house in Kepong. The brand “Jiu Ding Xiang”, which carries the meaning of trustworthiness and integrity is the motto of the company. To date, we have 7 tea retails and one tea storage centre to serve thousands of professional collectors across Malaysia.
How did you get involve in the industry
I followed my parents to learn about Chinese tea when I was 9 years old. I always follow them to learn about the process of making the Chinese tea, brewing it, and also tasting it. During the
tea harvesting season in China, sometimes I’ll follow my parents to the tea farm to understand how the farmers harvest the tea and process them. Since then I found my passion in Chinese Tea and culture, and I decided to come back and help in our family business. Until today, I still learn new things about tea everyday.
In 2022, I was elected to be a council member or Pu’er Tea Trade Association of Malaysia
What differentiates you from your competition
In 2004, our company was appointed as Malaysia’s sole distributor for TAETEA, the most reputable Pu’er tea brand and also the largest tea manufacturer in China.
Our business goes beyond selling to also offer education, professional storage, re-acquisition, and other transacting assistance to our customers so they will benefit from these inclusive services following their purchase.
Our company also expanded its business to festival gifts, specializing in Chinese New Year hampers and mooncakes with “gifting sincerity and wellness” in mind. Over the years in collaboration with malls and hypermarket chains, we are now the largest seasonal gift supplier to many top chain markets such as AEON, Maxvalu & Village Grocers.
