Upcoming Speaker/Presenter: Dennis De Witt & Eurogain Secta

My name is Dennis De Witt and I have been the managing director leading the team at Eurogain Secta Sdn Bhd since 2011.

Eurogain Secta is a management consulting firm that provides corporate administration and secretarial services. We are in the business of providing company formations, external corporate secretarial compliance services, corporate representative / branch office registrations, corporate meeting services, implementation of corporate policies, deregistration of companies and other related services.

How did you get involve in the industry?

I have been involved in the industry for more than 25 years. I started as a junior and with the experience and skills developed during my history of employment, I have been given the opportunity and entrusted to steward the running of operations for Eurogain Secta. During my experience in the industry, I have handled a diverse scope of clients, provided solutions to all kinds of problems encountered by my clients, and took part in turning-around a failing company.

What differentiates you from your competition?

A company secretary’s role is usually filled simply because there is a requirement in the law that obligates every company (i.e., a Sendirian Berhad and Berhad) to have a company secretary and for them to assist in the annual filing of the company’s returns.

We at Eurogain Secta are different because we have the know-how and resources to handle large enterprises, corporate businesses and MNCs. We assist them by handling their directors, committee and shareholders meetings, as well as the implementation of corporate governance policies.

We are able to help register foreign companies in Malaysia, as well as corporate representative / branch office registrations. Therefore, we can help foreign companies who wish to establish themselves in Malaysia.

We also handle local and foreign start-ups by providing a clear advice from the pre-incorporation process. This will help business owners to get things right from the start.

What are the challenges and where are the opportunities for Malaysian businesses in relation to your industry?

In the international business arena, Malaysia seemed to be overshadowed by our neighbour Singapore. Our neighbour in the south is generally seen as the financial centre in the region and a regional hub for doing business in Southeast Asia.

Even if this is so, Malaysia remains highly competitive towards Singapore and our other ASEAN neighbours.

Malaysia is a country who uses English as a medium of communication in the business world and this is a huge benefit when you compare with the other ASEAN countries. We also rank one of the highest for ease in doing business and setting up a company can be done very quickly, and without much hassle. Malaysia also has a stable economy with strong laws to help protect businesses. Most of all, the cost of doing business is lower than our southern neighbour.

What kind of clients or contacts would you like to be connected to or in touch with?

The lowest hanging fruit for us are new start-ups (i.e., new company incorporations), and company directors who are seeking to change to a more competent company secretary to handle their corporate compliance and restructuring. We would also like to be connected to those who wish to close, de-register or wind-up their company.

However, our ideal referral are large enterprises, corporate businesses and multinational corporations. These are the companies who have regular board meetings, committee meetings and/or conduct actual shareholders’ general meetings. We are especially good at handling Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Securities Commission (SC) licensed companies.
